Industrial Requirements, Standardisation and Business Motivation (WP1)

The aim of this work package is to develop the User Requirements Specification (URS) and their subsequent validation strategies from a strictly industrial point of view. The URS will have to be synchronised with the open development platform created in WP2, WP3, and WP4 as each step in the life-cycle of such systems will be supported by adequate tools. User requirements will be defined for strictly industrial conditions.

Secondly, certification procedures will be analysed and developed such that the new technologies follow the standard industrial specification procedures.

Thirdly, WP1 features activities aimed at coupling the technical innovation with a suitable approach to business able to extract the full value of such a novel approach to automatic production. In order to support the business cases a forth task in this WP is concerned with standardisation activities. These include monitoring of existing standards and developing new standards as well as providing substantial feedback for new standardisation activities.

This WP also focuses on industrial validation from the end user point of view of the innovations developed in the demonstration systems. The activities carried out in the other WPs will be fully characterised and evaluated using the following measures:

The final technical performances in real industrial applications for SMEs,

  • Reliability and repeatability,
  • Human friendliness,
  • Cost effectiveness,
  • Integration of new processes, and
  • Environmental impact

This work will allow comparison with state of the art competitors. Furthermore, these activities integrate and update the architecture and process design in WP3. Finally, the expected project results will be classified concerning Community Added Value, Social/Environmental Impact, and Technical/Economic Impact as well as corresponding exploitation aspects.
